Welcome to The Animal Clinic of Plainfield. Since 1955, our independently owned and operated hospital is the place where Plainfield residents take their pets for warm, quality care. Our staff of three doctors and thirteen support staff are here to provide the highest quality medical and surgical care to our patients. Your pets deserve and also receive the best possible service in our new facility. Our new facility has been updated to accommodate for greater comfort and for advanced diagnostics. Our current hospital now has space for separate cat and dog boarding as well as independent areas for large and small dogs. Located conveniently across from Wal-Mart in Plainfield, we hope to have you visit our facility and become friends as well as customers. We are here to extend our courtesy, patience and up to date abilities to our new customers just like we have through the past 50 plus years. See you soon!

  • Blake Deckard , DVM

    Blake Deckard , DVM

    Dr. R. Blake Deckard, a graduate of Plainfield High School, received both his undergraduate and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Purdue University.  He has been part owner of the Animal Clinic for sixteen years and sole owner since 2000.  His special interest is in the field of dentistry, in which he has done referral work since 1989.  Dr. Deckard is married and has two children.
  • Sarah Koehlinger , DVM

    Sarah Koehlinger , DVM

    Dr. Koehlinger is a graduate of Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, IN with a bachelor of science in Biology and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Purdue University in 2007.  She has been in practice at the Animal Clinic of Plainfield since that time.  She works primarily with small animals, however, has also spent time working with exotic pets and wildlife.  Her special interests in the field include internal medicine and dermatology.  Dr. Koehlinger and her husband have two daughters and live with three rescue pets, a beagle mix, a cattle dog, and a cat.

    Alice Hopper , DVM

    Dr. Hopper earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Purdue in 1999. She previously attended Butler University. She has been an associate veterinarian here since 1999. She enjoys dermatology and internal medicine cases. She and her husband have a son, a daughter, two dogs and two cats.
  • Crystal


    Crystal is one of our registered veterinary technicians. She graduated from Purdue University with an Associate degree in Veterinary Technology in 1997. During high school and some of college she worked as our ward attendant and a veterinary assistant. Crystal later rejoined our team in 2004. Crystal and her husband Darrin have a son Raiden plus five cats, one dog and a rabbit.

    Danielle has worked for our clinic since August 2008. She has been in the veterinary field for nearly 12 years and has loved every minute of it. She strives to learn new things everyday. She lives with her fiancé and two dogs, pictured with her. Gideon is a 5 year old Great Dane and Possum is a 5 month old Chihuahua and Rat Terrier mix. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, cooking and song writing.

    Lori joined our staff in July of 2011.  She is married to Curt and they have a daughter in college and a son in high school. She loves all animals but lives with five dogs and four cats.  In her spare time she enjoys reading and gardening.

  • Melissa


    Melissa started as a kennel assistant in February of 2012 and is now one of our veterinary assistants. She is currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at Butler University and plans on continuing into veterinary school. Melissa has three cats at home; Max, Mia and Tabby. In her spare time she enjoys playing soccer, volunteering at the local animal shelter and reading.

    Jeanette has been with the Animal Clinic of Plainfield since 1980. She enjoys seeing long-time patients as well as meeting new ones. She shares her home with a domestic medium-haired cat named Annie that she adopted from a local rescue group twelve years ago.
  • Dana


    Dana joined our staff August of 2011. Her and her husband Mark moved from St. Louis to this area in 2008 . They welcomed their first son in June of 2013. They have a husky mix named Oshie as well as a bearded dragon they call Stumpy. In her spare time she enjoys anything that has to do with the outdoors. Oshie loves trips out on the boat for a good day of fishing. Living on three acres gives plenty of gardening for Dana in the summer. She cans her garden goodies from salsa to pear and apple butter. 

  • Annie


    Annie earned both her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees from the University of Indianapolis.  She has been practicing physical therapy since 2005, specializing in outpatient orthopedics and joint replacement rehabilitation.  Annie continues to see human patients at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Mooresville, but her love of dogs led her to pursue certification in canine rehabilitation.  In 2013, Annie became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute.   In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 Dobermans as well as traveling all over the world.
